Dr Keith’s is a fully qualified, registered medical doctor. His background has been in skin cancer surgery and he has a masters degree in skin cancer medicine and is a fellow of the skin cancer college of Australasia.(see qualifications). He has performed thousands of surgical procedures on the lips to remove skin cancers and pre-cancers. These include wedge resections which requires removal of all the layers of the lip and then to perfectly realigned all the layers back together again. Vermilionectomies which removes the entire red surface of the lip and then repairing it. Mucosal advancement flaps, lip VY flaps, lip rotation flaps, transposition flaps right down to lip shave and punch biopsies and cryosurgery. These procedures require an intricate knowledge of the lip anatomy, nerves, muscles and lip movements. He has also been to USA to practice advanced lip procedures on cadavers under the guidance of facial plastic surgeons.
In the USA, the facial plastic surgeons who also perform the above lip procedures are the experts in lip augmentations. Most personally perform the lip augmentations themselves.
In Australia, it’s the opposite, the far majority of facial plastic surgeons delegate lip augmentations to one of their employed nurses and much skill and knowledge is lost.
